This thesis explores the applications fractal coding techniques for securing data transmission in digital transmission systems. Fractal coding modulation is used to camouflage transmission in which Random Scaling Fractal Signals are used for simulating background noise. This form of 'data camoulaging' is important in the transmission of sensitive information (in military communications systems for example) and represents an alternative and potentially more versatile approach to the spectral broadening techniques commonly used to scramble signals.
