This study sample consisted of eight battered women over the age of eighteen. In analyzing the responses eight core themes emerged: trust, dating, beliefs, healthy coping, going back, overcoming, relationship, and feelings. The codes were grouped into categories that ranged from healthy traits to dating to negative traits to dating. Moreover, a theoretical statement was developed by the use of selective coding.
