Life of Saint Gregory the Great Written in Four Books by John the Deacon: A Translation and Commentary of Books I and II
Abstract
dc:description.abstractCatholic scholars in the field of patristics have long felt the need for new translations of early Christian writers which not only convey faithfully and intelligibly the original message but also present a correct theological understanding. The bulk of the old translations, notably the collections entitled A Library of the Fathers, The Ante-Nicene Fathers, and the Select Library of Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers of the Christian Church, have been attempted by Anglican scholars. To meet the growing demand for translations by Catholics, a significant contribution has been made by the Catholic University of America Patristic Studies, a series which has supplied thirteen such works.
