It also contains a discussion of the ALICE electromagnetic calorimeter (EMCal) and its uses in pion rejection. An overview of ALICE detectors, focusing on the electromagnetic calorimeter, is provided. Ultra-peripheral collision physics and particle identification for rho meson analysis are discussed. The ALICE trigger system is outline.
