A Study in Business Writing: Exploring Writing Grants and Marketing Materials
Abstract
dc:description.abstract“A Study in Business Writing: Exploring Writing Grants and Marketing Materials” discusses a graduate student’s volunteer experience creating grant and marketing materials for a local nonprofit mentoring program. The project demonstrates the learning process associated with writing business documents and establishes an understanding of a variety of business writing literacies. The overview of the project discusses lessons learned, highlights some important aspects of the grant writing process, and shows the creation of copy for a general marketing factsheet. The extensive index was included to show the editing and writing process and as a testament to the project. In many ways, the bulk of the project resides in the examples because they show how the final documents were impacted by the editing process. The project was collaborative, so it also gives indirect insight into the complexities of a working with a team and understanding the needs of a customer.
