Learning Approaches for Diverse Professional Students: Learning Module of Oral Nerve Injections

INTRODUCTION. Students from all different backgrounds enter dental school each year, and the students will differ in processing, understanding, and learning the same material. This study should be conducted to understand the multiple learning styles of students regarding oral nerve block injections. Identify which population of students to utilize for the investigation to show the most valuable data—researching information on the VARK survey model and how this could be beneficial in understanding how students learn. Students should utilize a learning module in the form of a PowerPoint created using multiple learning styles such as tables, video presentations, and written text. Students should complete a pre-and post-content quiz in which they were retested on the material highlighted in the learning module for quantitative data. Fourth, a qualitative survey should be distributed to understand better how each student feels their learning style aligned with the learning module for qualitative data. CONCLUSIONS. The implementation of this learning module could be a helpful resource for students who struggle in understanding the information taught in a classroom setting. The VARK study participants should also aid in the student’s personal understanding of how they are able to best understand information.
