Utilizing Interactive Imagery To Create A Learning Resource For Students Studying The Lymphatics Of The Head And Neck

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Students have different preferred methods of studying and taking in information; some students do not know what their preferred way of learning is. When taking professional classes, resources and outlets designed to deliver information gives the students a greater chance at success. In recent years, students have started to prefer learning via online methods rather than textbook methods (Stirling, B. V. 2017). The lymphatic system is an integral part of anatomy that is often overlooked when studying cadavers. In professional school, arteries, veins, muscles, and nerves tends to be emphasized before learning the lymphatic system, namely the lymph nodes. For this project, an online hub was created that contains pictures of cadavers with overlayed lymphatics on them, specifically the lymph node groups of the head and neck. A software called interactive image was used to place hotspots on these images for the students to click on and receive more information, pictures, or outside links to go to that would further their understanding of the area. A few other examples using this technology were created that were specifically tuned to a class lesson to show how else this could be utilized. This program is not meant to replace any other form of teaching or learning but rather add another outlet that a student could use to learn an area of study.
