Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe significance of cell sizes has been considered as fundamental to a proper understanding of biological processes since the advent of the Cell Theory in the first half of the nineteenth century. Because cell size and shape are indicative of the behavior of the tissues they compose, or more specifically the growth rate and degree of differentiation achieved, attempts have been made to develop accurate measuring techniques. Information of this type is of special interest to the cancer researchers in comparing normal and tumor cells.
