A Potentlometrie Study of Formal Redox Potentlals in the Zimmermann-Reinhardt Determination of Iron in an Ore
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe object of this study is to determine the formal redox potential of the ferrous-ferric system at the end point of the Zimmerrnann-Reinhardt method of determining iron in an ore. | The potential is lowered somewhat more than the theoretical value because the activities of the ferrous and ferric ions are considerably affected by the ionic strength and complex ion formation brought about by the various acids used. Hence, formal potentials are more practical than the standard potential. | The method of analysis is the same as that employed by a student of Quantitative Analysis, hence in this study the technique used by a student is duplicated as nearly as possible.
