In October 1960, the Missile and Space Vehicle Department (MSVD) of the General Electric Company printed 200 copies of a special proprietary report on the business prospects of communications satellites (comsats) The 234 page document was intended to provide the central management group of GS with the data needed to determine whether or not the company should make a proposed commitment to commercial communication satellites (called C2S in GE).
