Determining how work process influences organizational results using the Malcolm Baldrige Excellence Framework

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This Dissertation in Practice explored what elements of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence aid in successful organizational effectiveness. Additionally, this research was aimed at determining if good organizational processes always produce positive results. The literature presented the many variables that can influence organizational performance. These include a review of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Criteria for Performance Excellence, Organizational Alignment, and Leadership.| This quantitative study relied on the collection and analysis of data including median scores from Baldrige participants between 2008 and 2014 and from participants from 2016 through statistical modeling. An analysis of quantitative secondary data gathered from the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program showed a positive correlation of Baldrige Excellence Framework: category 1.1 - the role of Senior Leadership; category 5.4 - the role of Workforce Engagement; and category 3.2 - the role of Customer Engagement in achieving organizational results.| The researcher of this study recommends adopting section 1.1 - Senior Leadership and section 5.2 - Workforce Engagement of the Baldrige Excellence Framework for organizational, departmental, and divisional team leaders who do not have the resources to complete the entire Baldrige Performance Excellence program.| Keywords: Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Baldrige Excellence Framework, process improvement, organizational alignment, employee satisfaction
