Phosphorescence of a Series of Substituted Aceto- and Benzophenones in Crystalline form at Room Temperature
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe present study was initiated in order to obtain uniform data on the o-o triplet energies of a series of benzo- and acetophenones under study as sensitizers in the photochemical cycloaddition of isophorone to 1,1-dimethoxyethylene. | A recording emission spectrograph with lifetime measuring capabilities was constructed from available equipment. Emission spectra were obtained at room temperature from solid sample crystals formed on 2mm. soft glass rods. Lifetime data were gathered utilizing a rotating can shutter on the same samples, and where possible, lifetimes were calculated.
