Our current knowledge of genetic control tells us that hereditary information is coded primarily into nuclear DNA, characteristic differentiated phenotypes being expressed through selective read-out of particular loci of the DNA helices. But this information has not solved the central problem of the control of development even though the Jacob and Monod theories have explained many of the details of gene action. The long standing paradox of DNA constancy vs.specificity of gene products still remains unresolved.
