Three rising sixth graders were randomly selected from the group of girls participating in PRIME camp at Columbus College the week of July 20-24, 1992, for the study of mathematics confidence and achievement in measurement concepts and skills. The three girls were asked to respond to a Fennema-Sherman scale and to participate in three measurement activities during the week of July 20-24, 1992, at PRIME camp at Columbus College. The attitudinal scale was scored and a journal of responses was kept on the activities in which each girl participated. The measurement activities were repeated in November and the attitudinal scale was repeated in December of 1992, and compared with the July results. The performance of the girls on the measurement activities suggested minimal gain in measurement concepts and skills from July to November. They did, however, reveal a gain in mathematics confidence.
