The Relationship Between Secondary Students' Attitude Toward Science and Gender or Grade Level

<p>The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible relationships between students' attitude toward science as a subject in school and their gender or grade level. The subjects for this study were 108 ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students enrolled in summer school. The instrument used, Attitude Toward Science in School Assessment, was a 14-item questionnaire which used the Likert scale to register the extent of agreement or disagreement with each opinion statement. The results, subdivided according to gender and grade level, indicated that there were no significant differences in attitude toward science between male and female students and no significant differences in attitude toward science between grade levels ninth through twelfth. The overal1 mean score for all students was 44.6, indicating a fairly neutral attitude toward science as a subject in school.</p>
