Is There a Need for Specific Objectives?","abstract":"<p>The purpose of this study was to investigate the science curricula being used in Georgia in the seventh and eighth grades. This information was used to determine any inconsistencies and the need for more specific guidelines at the State level to improve any transfer problems of students. The survey responses showed no significant problem with students transferring within the state. Responses also showed that a majority of either the curriculum directors or science teachers preferred a more specific description of the State Basic Curriculum Content. The survey indicated that Life Science is taught the most often in the seventh grade with Earth Science being the major focus for eighth grade. Generally respondents felt that it would be helpful to have a State Basic Curriculum Content which described the general curriculum in Earth, Life, Physical, and General Science for each specific grade and that the transfer of a student within the state does not cause the major problem of repeating or missing an area of science.</p>","abstract_html":"&lt;p&gt;The purpose of this study was to investigate the science curricula being used in Georgia in the seventh and eighth grades.
