The study employed Design Science Research along with several theories, including Postcolonial, Critical Data Studies, Behavioral Change, Intersectionality, Visual Perception, Design Justice, and Critical Race theories, to create ClapbackForJustice, an AI-powered plugin aimed at combating so-called fake news, establishing guardrails, and reducing social harm against African Americans and their allies on social media. Cutting-edge frameworks, empirical testing via ChatGPT-4, and a mixed methods survey were critical to the methodology. The results revealed notable outcomes in identifying nuances in racial discourse: hate speech, harm, toxicity, the usage of stereotypes, and racial misinformation. Significant behavioral shifts among 27 participants in terms of enhanced awareness of racially charged content and a significant sense of empowerment to combat such content were observed. This study is a novel approach to Design Science Research and Information Systems and Technology.
