Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The following pages are an ethnographic narrative of my experiences as a first year teacher in a special day class (SDC) located on the campus of a Los Angeles County high school. The purpose of this ethnography is to document my growth towards becoming a social justice educator who is equipped with the necessary mindset, tools, and resources to inspire any student placed in my care to believe he or she can fulfill their dreams. This narrative analyzes the intersection of a teacher’s position, student’s ability and experiences, the effects of community, and intentional reflection by a teacher to be used as a reference for others.</p>
