A Rollercoaster First Year of Teaching

<p>This narrative ethnography follows my rollercoaster experience during my first year of teaching. The purpose of this is to hone my abilities as an educator to my students, a support for parents, and become more involved in the community. In order to help me become a critical social justice educator, I administered cased studies on three specifics students. Gathering information through in-home or over the phone interviews, personal interactions, and assessments granted me the opportunity to create action plans for my case study students that would best support them academically, socially, and/or emotionally. In order to become an effective educator overall, I explored and studied the school, community, and classroom(s). I also frequented and learned about several community events, learned about the school’s mission, and reflected on my own classroom culture. Throughout it all, I was able to witness how each thing impacts students and their education which allowed me to grow as an educator and an individual.</p>
