A Study of the Influence of the Lyrical Prose Novels of Virginia Woolf and Hermann Hesse on the Creative Process in Intaglio Printmaking
Abstract
dc:description.abstractIt is the purpose of this study (1) to emphasize the complementary union between literature and the visual arts; (2) to limit the exploration to those specific lyrical prose writers: Hermann Hesse and Virginia Woolf; (3) to create prints utilizing the novel as a source of image-gathering but which do not retain this identity in the finished work; (4) I to experiment with the division of the plates, as well as cutouts for the effect of creating spatial illusion or imaginary space.
