Batik as an Art Craft in the Middle School to Develop Creativity and Prolonged Interest
Abstract
dc:description.abstractIt was the purpose of this study to present the craft of batik as (1) a means of studying the historical and contemporary background of batik, (2) a means of motivation to develop knowledge and feeling for the craft, (3) a means to introduce a craft which furnishes the individual with a sustained and prolonged interest, (4) a means to involve the student with many possibilities for experimentation in order to realize varied expressions, (5) a means to furnish the basic knowledge complete enough for each individual to work independently with this craft, (6) a means of furnishing an atmosphere whereby the student can use his creative ability, and (7) a means of showing, by photographs, selective examples of batik technique.
