King James' Daemonologie and Scottish Witchcraft Trials
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis study examines the impacts of King James’ <em>Daemonologie</em> on how witches were identified, prosecuted, and executed in Scotland during the early modern period. It is an analytical look at how the intervention of King James during the North Berwick trials influenced the writing of <em>Daemonologie</em> and how <em>Daemonologie </em>set a framework for future witchcraft prosecutions.
