The bronze process includes a foundry for the alloying of copper based alloys and because of this is a prescribed process under the Environmental Protection (Prescribed Processes and Substances) Regulations 1991 (a). These Regulations provide for processes to be regulated either by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Pollution, under the Integrated Pollution Control regime for grossly pollutive processes or by local authority control for less pollutive processes under the Air Pollution Control regime.
