Evaluation of the sag properties in a dual stabilized ferritic stainless steel
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe dual stabilised type 441 (DIN 1.4509) ferritic stainless steel is primarily used in the automative industry for catalytic converters. The steel, in addition to oxidation and corrosion resistance, is required to have a certain degree of creep resistance in the operating environment. The customer, by means of a modified creep test known as the sag test, usually specifies this requirement. This requirement is attained in most cases; however, in certain instances the customer places a severe requirement on the material, which exceeds the normal capabilities of type 441 material for sag resistance.
