Platinum promotion in supported gold catalysts for glycerol oxidation

Abstract

There has been recently a drive toward cleaner fuels, with biodiesel proving to be a viable option. It is obtained by the transesterification of triglycerides, with glycerol as the main coproduct. Approximately 100kg of glycerol is formed per ton of biodiesel produced.
