They find that it matters who receives the income within the household as to how it is spent. This conclusion leads to a rejection of the unitary household model punted by case and Deaton (1998). This paper is in essence a replication study of Maitra and Ray's (2003) model and seeks to examine whether post-democracy 2006 data holds the same model of the household found in 1993.
