The sample included 14 informal traders from Greenmarket Square, a former \"illegal\" trader, three formal business owners and three City of Cape Town officials. Semi-structured interviews and the creation and implementation of the Informal/Formal Continuum were the tools used to obtain the necessary data for analysis.
