This concern for the sacred is an attempt to ascertain Derrida’s relevance and value for religious traditions. Derrida’s ideas serve to destabilise (sacred) centres in religious traditions in order to find place for the (excluded) other. Hence, a central theme of this dissertation is that there are no stable centres.
