Epigrammi di Dioscoride. Edizione critica, traduzione e commento

The main topic of this PhD thesis is the philological and literary analysis of the remaining epigrams belonging to Dioscorides (an Alexandrian poet who flourished during the second half of the 3rd century BC). For each of the works assigned to the aforementioned author, this dissertation provides: i) a critical edition, based on the examination of the manuscripts that transmit them (esp. codex Palatinus Heidelbergensis gr. 23 and codex Venetus Marcianus gr. Z. 481); ii) an accurate translation in accordance with the original Greek texts; iii) a systematic evaluation of their linguistic and content peculiarities (e.g. topoi, motifs, ancient models and imitative strategies), aiming at highlighting both the processes of imitatio cum variatione and oppositio in imitando that characterise a large part of Dioscorides’ production, and the influence that this Hellenistic epigrammatist exerted over the following Greek and Latin literary works. SINTESI DELLA TESI IN ITALIANO: Oggetto della presente tesi dottorale è lo studio filologico-letterario degli epigrammi di Dioscoride alessandrino (vissuto nella seconda metà del III sec. a.C.). Nello specifico, ciascuna delle opere assegnate al poeta è stata dapprima sottoposta ad un’indagine critico-testuale basata sul confronto con le fonti manoscritte che le tramandano (si ricordino, in particolare, i codici Palatinus Heidelbergensis gr. 23 e Venetus Marcianus gr. Z. 481) e, successivamente, ad una traduzione fedele ai testi ricostruiti e ad un’analisi sistematica delle loro peculiarità linguistiche e contenutistiche (topoi, immagini, modelli e strategie imitative), con lo scopo di evidenziare sia i processi di imitatio cum variatione e oppositio in imitando che caratterizzano gran parte della produzione dioscoridea, sia l’influenza che quest’ultima ha esercitato sulle opere greche e latine di età successiva.
