Breaking down my contributions to various reanimate projects and other non-narrative-driven work, this thesis argues that originality of content is not necessarily correlated with artistic value. Reiterative media is presumed in this case to include any work derived in major part from another, pre-existing work, without being so similar as to be a direct duplication. These types of works provide support for this thesis' argument by demonstrating the existence of artistic merit in work that includes minimal original content in the traditional sense. Variants of this type of re-use are seen moreover in the category of film remakes as well as in older art forms. I considered at length my motivations for creating art for non-commercial purposes and the apparent peculiarity of having greater interest in the productive act than the result. These thoughts are contrasted with quotes from Warhol (or McLuhan) and Picasso on their sense of what art entails. This thesis concludes with a reflection on the overarching implications of this argument when applied on a broader scale and the conclusion I have personally derived from these studies regarding my interest in creative work.","**To request an accessible version of the file(s) associated with this item, contact library@buffalo.edu.
