Arguing against the tendency to privilege aesthetic work, the dissertation re-centers women’s oft-hidden domestic and cultural labor in considering how women formed and supported international alliances. Additionally, the project reveals the influence of marginalized geopolitical concerns and ideologies on the development of Latin American and Caribbean literature, arts, and identity.
