To achieve the objective, this dissertation investigates five research questions in the areas of assembly design and production planning. The research questions include: (1) how an initial model is properly decomposed into sub-assemblies; (2) how the resulting sub-assemblies are fit into the limited workspace of 3D printers; (3) Which build orientation policy is more preferred for hundreds or thousands of heterogeneous parts; (4) how the total process time including build and setup processes for a significant number of parts is efficiently estimated; and (5) how to manage work orders for efficient production planning in the AM-based mass customization systems."]},{"key":"dc:format","label":"Dc Format","values":["application/pdf"]},{"key":"dc:title","label":"Title","values":["Assembly Design and Production Planning Towards Additive Manufacturing-Based Mass Customization"]}]}],"canonical_facts":{"dc:contributor":["Behdad, Sara","Industrial and Systems Engineering"],"dc:creator":["Oh, Yosep"],"dc:date":["2019-10-29T16:47:44Z","2019","2019-07-28 18:17:39"],"dc:description":["Ph.D.","Mass Customization (MC) refers to a business strategy for mass production of a wide variety of products.
