It was hypothesized that employee characteristics and organizational characteristics would have a direct effect on employee attitudes and that organizational climate would have both a direct and indirect (mediating) impact on employee attitudes. The data for this cross-sectional study was gathered online and garnered a sample of 362 participants. The results showed that a number of employee and organizational characteristics had a significant effect on attitudes. Based on these results a limited mediation model was tested and found to be significant, indicating that the open systems aspect of organizational climate mediated the effect of training on employee attitudes regarding sheltering.
