Plasma concentrations of PCSK9 and its potential correlation between LDL-C. Methods: A case-controlled design was used to access potential differences in plasma lipids and PCSK9 concentrations in individuals with mild to moderate MS compared with healthy controls. Data was analyzed with a one-way Univariate ANOVA and Spearman's correlations was used to assess correlations in LDL-C and PCSK9 concentrations. Results: Findings revealed that mild to moderate MS population demonstrates symptoms of dyslipidemia (LDL-C >130mg/dL) but there were no significant differences in blood lipid panels, PCSK9 plasma concentrations or diet between the persons with MS and the healthy controls. Further, there were no significant correlation between LDL-C and PCSK9 plasma concentrations. Conclusion: Dyslipidemia in mild to moderate MS may imply worsening disease progression due to its role in inflammation.
