The structural behavior of curved bridges still needs a greater amount of contributions, so the main objective of this work is to perform a parametric study of the live load bending moment distribution in horizontally curved bridges in plan, at the most critical longitudinal position of the structure. For this, analytical models were used through the V-Load Method and the M/R Method, as well as 15 numerical models were constructed using MEF through the software CSiBridge V17. All the studies were performed with live load called TB-450 defined by NBR 7188: 2013. Calculations revealed that bending moment distribution factor (BMDF) increased with radius of curvature reduction for the external curve girder. In addition, an improvement was found in the distribution of bending moment through the insertion of support transverse. In the bridges with curved girders a more uniform bending moment distribution was detected than bridges with straight girders. Finally, in the analysis of the analytical methods, overestimated FDMF results were obtained both for the V-load and for the M/R in relation to the MEF analyzes.","abstract_html":"The structural analysis of bridges with curved longitudinal geometry presents greater complexity than the straight due to the coupling between the bending moment and the torsion moment, leading to the need to use structural members that transmit these forces efficiently.
