Inasmuch, many hypotheses have been proposed to explain the reason breastfeeding may protect your child against obesity. The protection mechanisms range from the specific and unique composition of human milk to the inf luence of environmental and behavioral factors, such as socioeconomic level, maternal education and eating habits. The results of studies found leads us to conclude that in addition to all the benefits have been studied and acknowledged breastfeeding, rece ives the addition of another, which is the protection against overweight and obesity throughout childhood. Therefore, there is a positive relationship between the duration of breastfeeding and infant nutritional status. However, the designs of the studies have methodological limitations the fact that were not controlled for other variables that could affect in this association, as the child's weight at birth, current energy intake, level of physical activity of the child, maternal education and maternal BMI .
