In view of the increased consumption of vegetables by the entire population and considering the fact of consumption \"in nature\" if the analysis is neces sary, since the transmission of infection occurs through water and food contaminated by protozoa and / or helminths. This study aims to investigate the occurrence of intestinal parasites in vegetables consumed by universitária - community João Pessoa / PB, as well as outlining the parasitological profile. The study included a sample of 30 feet of lettuce that were collected from 15 participants canteens and cafeteria University Hospital Lauro Wanderley, two samples per canteens, a washed (ready to use) and a missing hygiene, each sample taken in weeks different to the analysis of the same method was used in flotation. Upon examination, it was found that 53.3% (16) were positive for at least one parasitic structure and 46.7% (14) were negative, showing an alar ming rate of contamination. A comparison between washed and unwashed samples increased to helminth the washed samples had a frequency of 6.7% (1) passing to 13.3% (2) 52.9%, and protozoa (6) to 61.1% (8). The parasites profile was found: 10% Ancylostomatid ae eggs (2), Endolimax nana 11.3% (4) 40.1% Entamoeba coli (9), Entamoeba histolytica / E. dispar 5.7% (2). Therefore, these results indicate that the lettuces of university and college canteens restaurant had pathogenic to man, it is essential to create e ducational programs that seek the guidance of appropriate personal hygiene practices and food handling mainly vegetables, reducing thus the risks of parasitic diseases.","abstract_html":"The intesti nal parasites are diseases that affect the world and damages represent a serious public health problem.
