Investigação da atividade psicofarmacológica do extrato etanólico bruto de Sargassum polyceratium em modelos animais utilizando roedores
Abstract
dc:description.abstractMarine algae has been the target of important researches in the past 50 years, in which were isolated and characterized a vast number of constituents of great importance to chemists and taxonomists. As scientific information about Sargassum polyceratium is quite limited, this study aims to evaluate psychopharmacological activity of ethanolic extract from Sargassum polyceratium (SpEE). SpEE intraperitoneal treatment reduce d the number of abdominal contortions induced by acetic acid as well as the time of paw licking in the second stage of formalin test (15 - 30 minutes). Motor c oordination, evaluated in rotarod test, has not been modified in the animals treated with SpEE in none of the doses. SpEE reduce d the time of paw licking in glutamate test, however it have not altered reaction time in hot plate test in none of the tested doses. These results indicate that ethanolic extract from Sargassum polyceratium presents antinociceptive activity.
