As concepções dos professores de matemática sobre o uso da calculadora em sala de aula: o caso de Mari - PB

This study aims to verify the design of the teachers on the use of a calculator in math class, against the backdrop of the research to public school in the city of Mari-PB. For this research was carried out a bibliographic review on the subject and a case study, by applying a questionnaire containing questions about aspects related to training, the professional profile of teachers and their talk about the use of calculators in Mathematics classes. We interviewed 10 teachers from the local context of teaching, divided into three schools in the urban area. Initially a preliminary questionnaire was administered to two teachers to voluntarily answer questions pertinent to the subject, aiming to validate the instrument. Once the validation, we applied the questionnaire to teachers, carrying out analysis. The results report that the vast majority of respondents did not use a calculator in math class. For criteria, content and strategies used by teachers who use this tool, the data show that its use is still restricted to speed calculations. For the seven teachers who do not use this media, the arguments also fail to reflect the lack of different ways to explore mathematics using the calculator, and demonstrate a misconception on the cognitive consequences of its use, relating it to sloth and laziness . It is suggested, finally, the search for a reflective training on the use of media in teaching and learning of mathematics, especially the use of calculators in the sense that they can transform their lessons in an interactive space, contextualized to reality that their students experience.
