O papel dos agentes microbianos na carcinogênese.

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

The association of some micr organisms directly involved with the process of carcinogenesis is increasing every day. Chronic inflammation caused by these microbes, as well a s host factors and the environment are important for cancer initiation factors. Many pathogens have been classified as carcinogenic to humans, among them are: Helicobacter pylori, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, human papillomavirus. The study aimed to conduct a literature review on the role of microbes in carcinogenesis, and to study the mechanisms used by these pathogens in the cancer process. The papers were selected according to relevance, placing greater emphasis on more recent articles. It was o bserved that some virulence factors present in these microrganisms are of fundamental importance in the development of the disease, such as Cag A and Vac A of H. pylori. Therefore , despite the studies conducted, it is no t known exactly how these micro rgani sms actually cause cancers, requiring more research in this area.
