Questões relacionadas à seleção e utilização do livro didático por professores de Biologia de ensino médio da cidade de João Pessoa-PB.

The textbook (LD) is the main teaching tool used by high school teachers for planning and support of its activities. Logo for teachers to participate in the selection process of LD is critical and requires special training, is, essential knowledge for selection of criteria that guide the selection of LD, as emphasized in the National Textbook Program (PNLD). From this premise, it was aimed to examine the criteria and procedures for selection and use of LD for teachers of high school biology in public schools in João Pessoa-PB. The search was characterized as exploratory, aiming to meet a subject little studied, applying a mixed questionnaire and conducting structured interviews, data were analyzed through content analysis of the responses of teachers. Most said that the LD is the main teaching tool in the classroom, however should be an instrument to support the activities of both teachers and students. Books PNLD 2012 "Bio" collection was the most widely adopted among teachers participating in the research. Referring to the role of guide textbook, most cited that the GLD guides and assists in the selection of the LD process. Most stated participate in the selection process of the textbook and considered important part of this process, among the justifications, the best adaptation of the books category was the one with the highest number of responses. Regarding the selection of contents worked in the classroom, most teachers cited that works all content. Relate to the criteria for choice of LD, the most commonly mentioned by teachers were the exercises and content. The book of alternative materials can be classified into two categories: technological and pedagogical resources. Despite the difficulties in carrying out the research on behalf of some teachers, the analysis was important and it is hoped that it can serve as a basis for studies related to the topic.
