Conquistar a Terra não é suficiente: o uso de agrotóxicos pela empresa Santana e a luta dos assentados do Nova Vida I pela vida na terra.

The central objective this research performed under our term paper course is to analyze to what extent the massive use pesticides in Perímetro Irrigado Várzeas de Sousa (PIVAS), by a company Grupo Santana, who has possession of one of the larger lots comes compromising agricultural production and the health of the settlers PA Nova Vida I, installed next to the company within the PIVAS. For this it was necessary a) understand the process responsible for the introduction of pesticides in Brazilian agriculture, so, understand how was the penetration of capital in agriculture in century XX and which the more general effects of this process; b) from the understanding of the significance of pesticide analyze the intensity of its use and risks for the environment and the population; c) study the PIVAS, as to its origin and development in semiarid Paraiba space; d) understand the process that gave rise in PA Nova Vida I and form whit is structured and organized this settlement; e) understand of Grupo Santana and form the organization in the production; f) and, for last, identify with the conflict installed, from the intensive used the pesticides from company Santana. The paper utilized bibliographic research performed on the internet, well as fieldwork and methodological research instruments.
