Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis monograph describes activities undertaken in a public school of Paraíba state education system located in the municipality of Santa Rita. The study was conducted with students from elementary and high schools and on two occasions, the first during the year 2012 and the second between late 2012 and late 2013. The first occasion included the completion of a pilot study and the second the culmination of the activities developed by a scientific-cultural exposure. Methodologically the study was based on ethnographic research and case study. It aimed to reflect on educational practices enabling the ecological, environmental and food awareness, enabling a critical and reflective analysis through the development and maintenance of a sustainable garden. The association theory and practice has permitted a more pleasurable and meaningful experience in teaching of science and biology. In short, they sought such activities promoted an experiential and interactive space in social and environmental levels to unleash the students’ skills and competencies for the conservation of the environment and its sustainability.
