Inundação na margem direita do rio paraíba do norte no centro da cidade de Santa Rita-PB.

This work verse about the problems related to risk areas and floods in the river Paraíba of the North in the stretch that cuts through the city of Santa Rita - PB, in the Street Professora Joana Gomes da Silveira. The study aimed to identify the likely areas to inundations in the mentioned street. The work has been done through desk research to survey the history of the floods in the city. Pluviometric data has been obtained and crossed with the history to verify the relation between the phenomena. Field studies has also been done to identify and photograph the most critical points. Official records of the inundations in the area have only been made from 2011. The floods recorded from this year on coincide to the major rainfall levels. However, locals assert that the inundation that most caused socioeconomic damages has been the one of 1985. The areas that showed the highest risk levels has been the ones on the right margin of the river. The study makes it clear that the problems are related to buildings in irregular areas and, especially, the lack of planning of the public entities.
