Uso e ocupação do solo do baixo curso do Rio Camaratuba-PB e sua influência na qualidade da água do estuário.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe coastal environments are historically considered the most populated areas in the world, due to the large availability of water resources, which plays a fundamental role in the economy. The present study was conducted in the estuary of the Camaratuba River, located on the north coast of the state of Paraiba, where it sought to understand the influence of forms of use and land cover on water quality in the estuary. Such research is justified by the need to unite information about the region, thus helping with the sustainable development of the locality. Were used as methodological procedures: geoprocessing techniques in order to spatialize forms of use and occupation of the study area, and geostatistical techniques for the treatment of limnological data and multitemporal of CM03 station of monitoring water quality supplied by the Superintendent of Environment Management - SUDEMA and analyzed according to the standards: physical-chemical and bacteriological water established by the National Council on the Environment - CONAMA 357/2005. Based on field work, satellite images, on theoretical reference and in secondary limnological data, it was observed that in general, the water quality of the Camaratuba estuary meets the standards set forth in the legislation. It is also evident that there is great demand for this water, requiring from the government and society a special attention, because it is a region marked by conflict between traditional communities (Indians), government institutions and entrepreneurs in the agroindustrial sector.
