Relação sociedade - natureza: um das nacentes nas comunidades rurais do Vale do Gramame - PB.

This work aims to discuss the relationship between the rural community in Vale do Gramame, and its rivers springs, located in the country areas of João Pessoa and Conde (Gramame, Ponta de Gramame, Mituaçu). We researched the life´s dynamics of these people, the community´s issues and the use of the springs. We also researched the level of knowledge they have about the environmental legislation about springs in Brazil, Paraíba and João Pessoa and we learned they have none. Some properties in this region have springs, and because of the lack of information about the environment laws, residents are afraid of possible penalties like the payment of fines and taxes once they are registered. The springs are perceived as an extremely important resource for the local community´s agricultural needs and source of water. In order to contribute with information about the environmental laws and how to protect this natural resources we research the studies that took place in the River Gramame's watershed as well as in the environmental public agencies and research centers. Finally, there were fieldworks in these communities, collecting information through oral transmission, photographs and surveys.
