The study it based in a literature review, in the secondary data collection and field research. The settlement was created from a fight of occupation supported by MST. Nowadays are 85 families settled and agricultural organization is geared towards the production of food. Young people, as a general rule, help parents in agriculture. It is not clear the role of youth in building / consolidation of the settlement in addition to helping working parents. Some young people try to organize a collective activity, but have not achieved compliance. We conclude that it is not enough merely distributing land to the implementation of agrarian reform and to ensure youth participation in the struggle for the consolidation of the settlements. Assim, a área de pesquisa é a microrregião de Sapé e nela o Assentamento Zumbi dos Palmares localizado no município de Mari-PB. O estudo pautou-se numa revisão bibliográfica, no levantamento de dados secundários e na pesquisa de campo. O Assentamento foi criado a partir de uma luta de ocupação apoiada pelo MST. São 85 famílias assentadas e a organização agrícola é voltada para a produção de alimentos. Os jovens, regra geral, ajudam os pais na agricultura. Não é perceptível o protagonismo dos jovens na construção/consolidação do Assentamento além do trabalho ajudando aos pais. Alguns jovens tentam organizar uma atividade coletiva, porém não têm obtido adesão. Conclui-se que não é suficiente a mera distribuição de terras para a concretização da reforma agrária e para garantir a participação dos jovens na luta pela consolidação dos assentamentos.
