Abstract
dc:description.abstractAmong the most common hospital practices in primary and secondary care for patients unable to use the oral route is the administration of medications and nutrition via enteral feeding tubes and enteral tubes. In this study the oral solid drugs used in p rescriptions Hospi tal Napoleão Laureano in João Pessoa – PB (Brazil) according to the feasibility of transdermal administration via enteral probe, based on pharmaco kinetics of the drug and its recommendations for administration were analyzed . This is an exploratory, methodo logical and applied study, conducted through field research and literature, through the identification and analysis of oral solid drugs, according to the standardizati on of the 2012 Hospital Napoleão Laureano. 156 compounds oral solid drugs, with 130 gener al purpose and 26 for the exclusive use of chemotherapy were analyzed. As for administration by nasogastric tube, 104 medicines can be administered, 96 of commonly used and 08 of the chemotherapy, and 53 medications can not be administered, 34 of commonly used and 18 of the chemotherapy, and require replacement and the risk - benefit analysis treat ment of the patient. In total 90 recommendations on observations on how to administer and/ or triturate the drug were made, and alternatives to pharmaceutical form i n exchange for administration by nasogastric tube, 79 for drugs co mmonly used and 11 for the chemotherapy drugs. It is necessary to spread the appropriate medication preparation technical criteria and improve knowledge about this topic among pharmaceutical and nursing professionals, which can avoid issues related to lack of efficacy and safety of pharmacological treatments. Realized the need for continuing education regarding this topic in order to reduce errors both in the preparation and administration, w hich can compromise both the nutritional support, as the effectiveness of drug therapy.
