This study evaluated the effect of oral treatment of mice w ith W or MW in the formation of paw edema induced by phlogistic agents in vascular leakage and cell migration in models of acute inflammation . Swiss mice (n = 4 - 6 ) were treated with phosphate buffered saline - PBS , 10mg/kg indomethacin , warifteíne or methyl warifteíne at doses of 2mg/kg and 10 mg / kg and were administered one hour after the phlogistic agents in left paws, carrageenan, prostaglandin E2 ( PGE2) or bradyki nin and right paws in PBS. Edema was measured at 1, 2, 3 , 4, 6 and 24 hours for c arrageenan , 15, 30 and 60 minutes for PGE2 and 15 for 30min and bradykinin were measured with calipers . The vascular permeability was assessed by intraperitoneal injection of acetic acid, and protein concentrations were quantified spectrophotometrically using Evans blue . The cell migration was assessed by intraperitoneal injection of zymosan , with consequent peritoneal lavage and cell counts by a simple optical microscope . Statistical analyzes were performed using ANOVA with Tukey post test using Graph PadPrism , ver sion 5.0 . Oral treatment with W reduced paw edema induced by carrageenin and prostaglandin E2 , this effect was not observed with treatment with MW inhibition of edema was independent pathways occurred by bradykinin .
