Por ser uma planta rústica, adapta-se muito bem em ambientes com baixo teor de água e nutrientes e, por isso, indicada para as condições nordestinas. A pesquisa visou avaliar a produção de duas variedades de mandioca mansa cultivadas em dois sistemas de plantio: Leirão e Cova. O ensaio foi conduzido em condições de campo na propriedade “Sítio Cumbe” localizado no município de Lagoa Seca – PB, microrregião do agreste paraibano, a 615 metros de altitude, em solo classificado como Argissolo Vermelho Amarelo. Da área experimental, foi realizada análise química da camada superficial do solo antes do plantio. Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, composta por três blocos distribuídos esquema fatorial 2x2 (sendo 2 variedades de mandioca (Cedinha e Pão do Chile) e 2 sistemas de plantio (cova e leirão).
